We certainly are! And judging by the poll we ran recently on our CargoForwarder Global LinkedIn page, most of you are, too. Just less than one in five is expecting a year worse than 2020 and 2021 combined, another one in five believes it will be the same, whilst around three in five people are convinced that 2022 will pan out better than the past 2 years. At CFG, we are inclined to agree with the optimists.
If “unprecedented” was the word of the year in 2020, then “collaboration” (especially regarding vaccine transports) has been the main theme in 2021, alongside “digitalization” (the continuing
surge towards online booking platforms), and “sustainability” (SAF, in particular). Those are certainly three good topics to take with us into the new year and develop further. Many share the
view that, rather than seek to return to a “new normal”, we have the opportunity to create a “better than normal” going forward.
The challenges will not get any easier, against the volatile covid variations, the rapidly rising costs and inflation, and the currently tense global political situation. If conflicts were to intensify, for example between Russia and Eastern European countries, and in the Indo-Pacific between China, neighboring states, and the USA, it could have a huge impact on global trade and supply chains, putting the ongoing capacity shortages across all transport channels in the pale. In the interests of everyone, regardless of nationality, religion, and ethnic origin, we hope that collaboration and peace will prevail in 2022. The past two years have nurtured flexibility, creativity, and innovation, so the foundation is there to face these challenges constructively.
At CFG, we are looking forward to reporting on all your success stories, decisions, partnerships, new products, routes, freighters, digital solutions, milestones, developments, expansions, outstanding personalities, etc., etc., etc. The world of air cargo logistics is as extensive in topics as it is in global reach. We always enjoy learning through what we write, and are grateful to you, our readers, sponsors, guest authors, contributors, and media partners for your sincere and faithful support this past year. Thank you.
