The Berlin-based online cargo booking platform has appointed Simson Demmer as Senior Director, Airline Products. He comes from the Lufthansa Group, where he was Head of Analytics &
Business Development for Network Management.
Prior to this, Simson was Chief Strategy Officer at AirBridgeCargo and CargoLogicAir, where he led the group’s digital transformation process and pioneered digital bookings.
Simson Demmer’s appointment comes after a year of rapid growth for cargo.one, during which the platform’s user base increased by 300%, and booking numbers went through the roof, increasing by 700+%, to more than 120,000 annual bookings. Most recently, the company raised US$60 million to fuel its global expansion to North America and Asia.
With 17 airline partners, including Air Canada Cargo and Saudia Cargo among its latest additions (CargoForwarder, 18APR21), cargo.one facilitates the transport of 180 tons of air cargo per day across 347 destinations around the world.
With over 10 years’ experience in aviation, extensive knowledge of airlines as well as their technology and data infrastructures, Simson will lead cargo.one's airline product development. In his role, he will focus on the continued development of data solutions and new product lines to help cargo.one’s partner airlines expand their digital distribution capabilities and generate more business with lower operational costs.
Commenting on his new position, Simson said “I am truly excited to be joining cargo.one at such an interesting point in the company’s journey. As one of their early customers, I was impressed by both the product and the team from the first time I encountered them, and admire the growth and customer successes the company has been able to achieve over its dynamic first years. Now, as cargo.one’s airline product lead, I look forward to combining my industry experience with the team’s well-established product prowess and to collaborate with leading carriers to enable them to expand their digital footprint globally.”
Oliver T. Neumann, Co-founder and Managing Director of cargo.one said, “Bringing senior industry leaders like Simson into the team is another milestone for us as we continue to grow and expand our business. Simson’s unrivaled sector knowledge and deep customer expertise make him a trusted partner for teams across our business as well as our airline partners. Having first-hand experience working with us as a customer on developing and building the digital distribution infrastructure for an airline, he is uniquely positioned to translate this knowledge into further innovative product developments in his new role at cargo.one.”
