The 44 year-old French national Benoit Dumont will take the chair at Zurich-headquartered Unilode Aviation Solutions, succeeding the ULD manager’s current President and CEO, Dr. Ludwig Bertsch as of 1 September. Ludwig, who has been with Unilode and its diverse forerunners over the past 17 years, will then join the company’s Board of Directors.

In spite of his rather young age, Benoit Dumont can be called a true logistics veteran and skilled market analyst. The graduate of the University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne, where he achieved
a Master’s Degree in International Finance, has worked several years as analyst for McKinsey focusing on the transport and logistics sector. From there, it took Benoit 2004 to DHL Express and to
DHL Supply Chain five years later, where he became Director of Operations, Managing Director, Senior VP of Operations, and CEO Germany, Alps & Nordics. In these positions, Dumont implemented
new commercial strategies, performance management and engagement models, and achieved significant revenue growth, states Unilode.
High caliber
Skills he will need to drive the ULD manager’s business further ahead in close coordination with his executive team after taking office next September.
“I am very pleased that we have found such a high caliber successor and am absolutely confident that Benoit is the right person to lead the company forward into its next phase under EQT
Infrastructure’s ownership,” commented outgoing CEO Ludwig Bertsch.
He himself will become non-executive board member, thus continuing to be involved in the fate of the service provider in aviation.
Benoit Dumont stated: “I am both honored and excited by the opportunity to take on the CEO role at Unilode. Ludwig and the management team have executed a strategy that has positioned the company
well for continued success and I am committed to capturing the enormous opportunities in front of us. I look forward to working with everyone at Unilode and leading the company into the next
growth phase while continuously improving the services to our customers.”

Unilode eyes next level
Peter Nilsson, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Unilode, addressed Ludwig whom he thanked for his leadership, commitment and dedication throughout his tenure as President and CEO. “I am
looking forward to benefiting from his experience on the board,” Peter stated. “Ludwig has been a true visionary who brought Unilode to where it is today, and set the stage for the great business
opportunities that lie ahead. Ludwig laid a solid foundation for his successor. With Benoit we have found a proven leader with the right mix of expertise, leadership skills and operational
capabilities to bring Unilode to the next level.”
According to its own figures, Unilode manages the flow of approximately 120,000 ULDs on behalf of more than 40 airline customers, among them well-known names like Cathay Pacific, Air Canada,
United Airlines, Cargolux, Singapore Airlines or LATAM Cargo, to name but a few.
Last November, Swedish investor EQT Infrastructure acquired the ULD manager from the Australian Brambles Group, changing its brand from CHEP to Unilode beginning of February.
