Air India Sats Airport Services (Aisats), the 50:50 joint venture between National Aviation Company India Limited (NACIL) and Singapore's air service provider SATS, has started trial operations of the Aisats Coolport.

The 11,000 sqm on-airport perishable cargo handling centre is located at Kempegowda International Airport of Bengaluru (KIAB).
The facility, which has been designed to meet increasing demand for the handling of temperature-sensitive cargo, is expected to be officially inaugurated by end 2016.

In a statement, the partners said the facility will also enhance the State of Karnataka’s status as the pharmaceutical and perishables hub in the south of India.
With a handling capacity of 40,000 tonnes a year, Aisats Coolport will cater to a range of perishable commodities such as pharmaceuticals, fruits, vegetables, poultry, seafood and flowers.
The facility will offer cold storage solutions with 17 dedicated cold rooms with adjustable temperatures ranging from -25ºC to +25º C.
