Malta International Airport has announced the appointment of Alan Borg, Chief Commercial Officer and Executive Director, as its Chief Executive Officer ad interim, effective
immediately.

Borg replaces outgoing CEO and Executive Director Markus Klaushofer, who has held this position since January 2012.
Dubious personnel decisions
In a terse statement, the airport did not provide any further details about Klaushofer's sudden departure, nor did it explain why Austin Calleja, who was appointed Deputy CEO in June 2012, did
not replace Klaushofer.
Malta International Airport is expected to publish its 2014 results and forecast for 2015 shortly.
Before his appointment at Malta International Airport, Klaushofer started at Sheremetyevo Airport as divisional director for marketing, sales and business development before becoming the
Muscovite gateway’s chief commercial officer.
From Moscow to Vienna, Malta
Prior to that, he spent more than seven years at Vienna International Airport, first as head of marketing and sales, later adding business development to his portfolio.
Additionally, Klaushofer served on the board of directors of Malta International Airport between April 2007 and April 2009.
Alan Borg joined Malta International Airport in 2007 as manager in the Airline Marketing Department and was involved in securing new airline operations from various new European
destinations.
He was appointed head of airline marketing in 2008 and in 2009, he was given the added responsibility of general manager of SkyParks Business Centre.
