Part 2

Luhua Dai, Managing Director Navitrans GmbH
“I and my colleagues from Navitrans are really enjoying this thrilling opening ceremony of the warehouse complex organized by the VG Cargo people here at Hahn Airport. Being one of their
long-standing customers we are impressed by this state-of-the-art-facility they have built and the expansion of their handling space.
As Navitrans we are responsible for three cargo flights each week to and from Hahn, operated with Boeing 747-8Fs. For this purpose we have leased the aircraft from Atlas Air on ACMI terms. Two
weekly flights are routed from Shanghai to New York, onto Hahn and Zhengzhou and from there back to Pudong. The remaining one is operated directly Shanghai-Hahn-Shanghai. Based on our long-term
cooperation I can attest that the services rendered by VG Cargo at Hahn are first class. That’s why from our point of view this business relation has paid off. We wish VG well and lots of tonnage
for fast filling their new cargo hall.”

Dieter Wanko, Product Manager European Hub & Distribution Network, SAT Albatros Sea-Air Service
“You may have wondered about the Triple Seven Emirates freighter standing right in front of VG Cargo’s warehouse. It’s easy to explain because we at SAT have decided recently to commence
operating ad-hoc charters between Dubai and Hahn, linking both airports twice weekly. And here we are today!
It’s sea-air traffic, with goods originating in Far East and coming by vessel to Dubai where the central Europe-bound shipments are loaded on board a freighter aircraft for being flown to their
final destination.
Why did we decide to route the freighters to Hahn instead of Frankfurt or some other airports? For two main reasons: Unlike other German airports Hahn offers a 24/7 operation, which is a huge
asset in the country’s airport landscape. This guarantees our flights an utmost of flexibility because we don’t have to plan our schedule in the narrow context of any slots. Let me add to this
that we knew before commencing theses services that the local customs people at Hahn are fast, efficient and customer friendly, which does not mean that their inspection or on the spot checks are
lax. Considering all the pros and cons we finally decided Hahn to be our best choice.
As I pointed out, it’s pure charter traffic because Emirates doesn’t have line haul rights in and out of Hahn. We commenced operating this chain about two weeks ago, which might explain why
everybody was surprised seeing the aircraft at Hahn’s apron tonight.”
